Denise Kline is Bucks County’s premiere Maternity Portrait photographer. Specializing in distinctive image design for expectant mothers, Denise Kline Photography is a celebration of life. The following essay is a personal mission statement from the artist explaining why ‘protruding bellies’ has become her favorite thing to photograph.

“My approach to maternity portraiture springs from the spiritual side of my life…why I do photography in the first place. I’ve always been fascinated with documenting the female figure during this extraordinary, ever so brief time in ones existence. Creating a new life, feeling it grow inside you, becoming so utterly and unconditionally ‘in love’ with someone whom you’ve never even met yet. My relationship to women became even stronger after I had my own baby. I feel this connection has helped me identify with my clients resulting in an unspoken level of comfort that puts them at ease while being photographed.

My customers are women who want something truly different to commemorate their pregnancies, be it their first or their fifth! I love the artistic inspiration that comes with maternity portraiture. I believe this creativity springs from the fact that pregnancy is such an emotional time for women; so many emotions are swirling around at once, everything from fear to wonder. My images explore that experience. I am truly grateful to all the mothers who allow me to photograph them because they provide me with an incredible creative outlet.

A truly unique portrait requires a collaborative effort with every expectant mother. I need to know each woman, what she’s all about, what she sees and hopes for the life of her unborn child. All sessions include a complimentary consultation where mom and I get a chance to discuss different portrait options and get to know one another. As a result, a symbiotic relationship forms between us, a collaboration of creative vision. Ultimately this is what makes for a truly personal, customized, finished work of art.”
